The conference started with a Holy Mass presided by Arhbishop Raom C. Arguelles of the Archdiocese of Lipa.

The elder of the host community and the treasurer of the Catholic Fraternity, Sis. Techie Rodriguez gave the welcome remarks.

Archbishop Ramon C. Arguelles, the keynote speaker of the conference, gave a thorough explanation of the theme of the conference.

The conference is very much honored with the presence of Professor Matteo Calisi, President of the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities & Fellowships, Vatican City. In his inspirational talk, he is challenging everyone to be humble missionary disciples and to be a new breed of evangelizer not only in Asia, but in the whole world.

Late in the afternoon of the first day of the conference, each community made a video presentation of its mission and vision.

The delegates were conducted to the Great Eastern Hotel after a welcome dinner at the lobby of the Heritage.

3rd ASIAN CONFERENCE DAY 2

The second day of the conference started with joyful songs followed by opening prayer.

The first topic entitled, “Raising up Leaders (Vision & Mission)” was given by Sis.Techie Rodriguez. Following the process used by Jesus Christ training His apostles Sis. Techie enumerated the following:

1) Selection; 2) Association; 3) Demonstration; 4) Consecration; 5) Impartation; 6) Delegation; 7) Reproduction; and 8) Multiplication. She also explained that the vision given by God to the community should flow from the founders and must be brought down and understood by all the members.

Brother Joseph Chee of Light of Jesus Christ Covenant Community, Malaysia discussed the topic on “Inter-community Cooperation and Networking in the Region.” In a nutshell, he stressed that inter-community cooperation should be formed and established in a spirit according to the need and cry of the people because it is through this that the cry of Jesus could be heard. He further explained that it is through international collaboration that we will be able to answer the call of the people throughout the world. Moreover, he stressed that we should be able to reach out not only in our region but also to the whole world as ambassadors of the church through this Catholic Fraternity.

The third topic given by Bro.Manoj Sunny of Jesus Youth International, India was “Youth Pastoral Ministry and Youth Evangelization.” He stressed on the role of youth in evangelization because of their dynamism. They should not be seen as an age, but a state of mind and an attitude. He also stressed on the need of guidance for the youth to develop in them a Christ-centred spirituality.

After the discussion on the three (3) topics, it was followed by a workshop.

After the lunch break, the fourth topic was given by Sis.Techie Rodriguez on “Revitalizing and Strengthening Communities (Problems of Church Growth).” She explained the different signs of a growing community which are: 1) Dynamic Pastoral Leadership; 2) Pastoring/Follow up; 3) Preaching the Word of God; 4) Members of the body to exercise the gifts; 5) Evangelization; 6) Caring for the new Christians; 7) Discipleship; and 8) Unity in the Community, she emphasized that the community must never stop growing. When it ceases growing it will start to die.

A five (5) minute sharing was given by each community on Sis. Techie’s topic.

The Asian leaders held their business meeting with CFCCCF President, Professor Calisi. Problems of concerns to member-communities were privately discussed by the Asian Leaders. There was film showing at the Sanctuary for local delegates.

After dinner was served the delegates joined the Lord’s Flock Community in its regular Friday evening Praise and Worship.

The delegates were conducted to their hotel after the activity.

3rd ASIAN CONFERENCE DAY 3

Day 3 of the Asian Conference started with 5th topic discussed by Bishop Teodoro C. Bacani, DD, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Novaliches, Quezon City, Philippines.

His talk, “Strengthening the Position of the Catholic Fraternity Communities with the Local Hierarchy”, centered onthe need for communities to submit to the hierarchy of the Catholic church. The New Pentecost has the renewal movements and communities in the forefront. But the real movement of the Spirit calls for submission to the pastoring of the Church.

The second topic entitled “Passing on the Mantle of Leadership” was discussed by Father Bart A. Pastor, the founding instrument and Presiding servant of the Family of God’s Little Children, a covenanted Community of 34 years in Tacloban City. He has been serving for 44 years in the priestly ministry in the Archdiocese of Palo, Leyte, Philippines.

The importance of succession ensures the success and continuity of the Church. Passing on the mantle of leadership to successors confers the powers of the Holy Spirit, entrusts Christ’s mission, delegates the functions of the Good Shepherd, hands on traditions of a purpose-driven covenant community, and serves as training for task in the life development process.

The discussion was followed shortly by stories of succession of participating communities as presented by Bro. Froilan Hong for The Lord’s Flock, Philippines; Bro. Harry Gondo Soewito of the Holy Trinity Community, Indonesia; Bro. Manoj Sunny of Jesus Youth International, India; Bro. Anthony Felix of Servants of Youth, Malaysia; Bro. Peter Wong of Bread of Life, Malaysia; Bro. Chris Chan of Renewal in the Spirit, Hong Kong; Bro. Joseph Chi and Bro. Anthony Lim of the Light of Jesus, Malaysia; Sis. Maricar Ocdol of Fondacio, Philippines; and Sis. Christelle Corpin of the Family of God’s Little Children, Philippines.

Breakout workshop sessions were held in the afternoon to share ideas and thresh out issues and concerns regarding Topic No. 4 “Revitalizing and Strengthening Communities”, and the topics discussed in the morning. This was followed shortly by an open forum to raise issues addressed to the members of the Executive Council.

Finally, the Catholic Fraternity 3rd Asian Conference Declaration was presented by Sis. Techie Rodriguez to and subsequently approved by the body. Certificates were distributed to participants shortly afterwards.

The 3-day affair was capped by a mass concelebrated by Fr. Bart Pastor and Fr. Augustine Jepy and a lively cultural presentation showcasing the talents of the members of the Asian Communities.
